Thought I was going to die.

But I didn't!
I am alive, but barely. I am still not out of the woods. My doctor informed me that I do not have Mono, just Pneumonia. WTH? JUST Pneumonia?
I have not been sick in two years, and this hits me like a woman going to a sale.

Now, decision time:
I will most likely not be running Buckeye Trail 50k. I'll see if I can transfer my entry to someone.
I do not think I will be making it to Mississippi either. I believe I can get my entry fee back, just not my plane ticket. I'll only be out $100.00.
I think I would rather take it easy, do some other cross training, and look for some summer/fall races to do.
Hey, it's life. Things get in the way. I am going to stay on it and see where it takes me from here.

Mohican registration is out there and ready. They do have a 50 mile option that is sounding a little better to me at this point. I will have to wait and see closer to the time.

  1. Goos to hear it's only pneumonia, if you see what I mean! It's only early in the year, toughen up now and have a good second half.

    Welcome back

  2. Wow! Get some good antibiotics and get better soon. I think it's smart to change your race plans too. What about the Athens Marathon in April?

  3. You have it right, wait and decide later. Mohican will not sell out. This down time is nothing. Yes it will take some time to get back some but you will not be starting back from day one. Glad to hear you are getting this controlled.

  4. Hey Nick, hang in there! I'm sick too with a 40M in 2.5weeks. The timing is such a drag- just when I should have been hitting my peak mileage I had nada *sigh* I think I will be fine by race day, but all hopes of a PR have vaporized, so I'm also having an exercise in adjusting my goal focus. Be patient, you've got lots of time to regroup if Mohican is what you want (I have Massanutten to face a full month earlier!). Oh, and lots of us women don't rush to sales ;o) (online shopping for gear doesn't count!)
